The team was, for the first time, playing without their talismanic captain Boon, who was away on national duty in the beauteous country of Taiwan. Star winger Peng was also absent this week due to his commissioning parade taking precedence the coming Thursday. There were several other absentees as well, namely Kim Yuan and Nizar, both of whom were keeping our beloved country safe and sound; Lionel who was overseas taking a well-deserved holiday from all the hardcore partying, Ngak nursing a sprained ankle, Vijay mugging for his examinations, and Alvin who was exhausted by his "tough-times-don't-last-tough-men-do" BMTC training.

However, this did not deter the Sundays from running riot against the opposition. Goalkeeper Nathan was in excellent form albeit his sore eyes (probably from watching too much explicit material), making superb saves when he was called upon and distributing the ball well. The formidable defence, compromising of Eugene, Weilin, Zhong and Wak, were outstanding and deterred the opponents from any sort of real threat at all. In fact, the dependable defenders were sometimes even the threat to the opposition's goal.

Midfielders Darren, Jason, Adib and Long did not put a foot wrong as they controlled the game with their dazzling skills, master vision, strong running and brilliant passing. This led to prolific Yen Hao scoring an impressive hat-trick on his debut (a header, left footed and right footed strike!) and Joshua bagging two goals with his occasionally lethal left foot as well.

Pictures next Sunday. If only Everyday was Sunday...
